Today, we're excited to introduce Beaker to the world - an open-source, plugin-based workspace designed for dev-first teams to build and extend internal tools. This isn't just another tool in your stack; it's a new approach to building and maintaining the tools that power your organization.

The Problem We're Solvingโ€‹

In our journey building internal tools, we've noticed a persistent gap in the market. Most solutions fall into two problematic categories:

  • Developer Tools: While powerful, they're often impossible to delegate to non-technical team members
  • Operations Tools: User-friendly but disconnected from your actual data sources

This creates a frustrating cycle where teams either:

  • Build custom solutions that become maintenance nightmares
  • Use off-the-shelf tools that don't quite fit their needs
  • End up with a patchwork of solutions that create data silos

Enter Beakerโ€‹

Beaker is our answer to this challenge. It's a modular workspace that bridges the gap between developer control and operational flexibility. Here's what makes it special:

  • Plugin-based Architecture: Extend functionality through a growing ecosystem of plugins
  • Supabase-native: Built with first-class Supabase support, from auth to storage to row-level security
  • Dev-first Approach: Designed for developers who need to maintain control while enabling team collaboration
  • Open Source: Built in the open, for the community

Who's It For?โ€‹

Beaker is designed for:

  • Developers maintaining post-MVP dashboards, CRMs, or ops tools
  • Early-stage teams who've duct-taped their backend together
  • Solo builders and PMs who want internal tools that don't break under scale
  • Contributors looking to help shape a dev-native open-source project

What's Next?โ€‹

This is just the beginning. We're building Beaker in public, and we want you to be part of this journey. Whether you're interested in:

  • Trying out Beaker for your team
